Peng-Yeng Yin received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in computer science from National Chiao Tung University (Hsinchu, Taiwan). From 1993 to 1994, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland (College Park, MD, USA) and in the Department of Radiology at Georgetown University (Washington D.C., USA). In 2000, he was a visiting professor in the Visualization and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (VISLab) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of California (Riverside, USA). From 2006 to 2007, he was a visiting professor at Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado. From 2001 to 2003, he was a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ming Chuan University (Taoyuan, Taiwan). Since 2003, he has been a professor of the Department of information Management, National Chi Nan University (Nantou, Taiwan). Dr. Yin received the Overseas Research Fellowship from Ministry of Education (1993) and the Overseas Research Fellowship from National Science Council (2000). He has received the best paper award from the Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society of Taiwan. He is a member of the Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society and listed in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in Asia. Dr. Yin has published more than 100 academic articles in reputable journals and conferences including IEEE Trans. on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Trans. on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Trans. on Education, Pattern Recognition, Annals of Operations Research, IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, etc. He has been on the editorial board of the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, the Open Artificial Intelligence Journal, the Open Artificial Intelligence Letters, the Open Artificial Intelligence Reviews and served as a program committee member in many international conferences. This is an excellent review book. I'm a PGY1 in ENT and so far it's been a great review for in-service. Reads well (unlike KJ Lee which is just bullet points) and broadly overviews most ENT topics. It's not very in depth, but it's hard to cover all ENT topics in less than 1000 pages (which this book is just shy of). I like the paperback as I can just toss it in my bag. My one BIG gripe with this book is the terrible picture quality in the radiology section. Somebody wrote an amazing 100+ page H&N radiology section and then they fill it with completely unusable images. The images (esp MRI) are so dark as to be useless. Nonetheless, this is the best ENT review book I've used and I would still buy it again.

While this is not a Bailey's or Cummings' textbook, Current Otolaryngology is a nice place to start for a medical student or a junior otolaryngology resident. I would not recommend this as a primary text, but more an overview of the topics that are included within this book.

Some DisorganiZation and areas where specificity was lacking. Excellent for intern/primary care level. Keep in mind I was getting pimped daily. Wish I had bought this book much earlier!

Written well, concise and easy to understand. Like the radiology pics. However, one annoying feature is that the text refers to pics a few pages ahead and you have to flip back and forth. I would really like the text and pic to be on the same page.

William J. Seymour, the son of former slaves, was the founder and pastor of the famed Azusa Street Mission in Los Angeles, California from 1906 until his death in 1922. God used this humble servant to initiate and lead the revival that spread Pentecost around the world.

Reared in reconstruction Louisiana in the 1870s and 1880s, Seymour's early life was marked by poverty, prejudice, and oppression. His opportunities for formaleducation were very limited. Yet, this man's ministry changed the religious world. Christian History Magazine listed Seymour as one of the ten most importantChristian's of the twentieth century.

Seymour was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church, converted in Methodism, sanctified in the Church of God Reformation movement, and then introduced to the Apostolic Faith or Pentecostal message in 1905. He took that message to Los Angeles in 1906.

In addition to founding the mission at 312 Azusa Street, Seymour traveledand helped to establish and organize other missions across the country. The Doctrine and Discipline was intended to be a policy and polity guide for all theApostolic Faith Missions under Seymour's guidance. It contains sections on doctrine,the Christian family, the church, the ministry, and other subjects. Also included are forms that Seymour used for weddings, funerals, the installation of church officers, and more. A copy of the church's constitution and by-laws will be interesting to those curious about the formation of the Azusa Street Mission.

This is the only book ever written by Seymour. Published in 1915, theoriginal book is extremely rare. This reprint makes the book available to the public for the first time in 85 years.

Although Seymour's original thought is included, much of the book is acompilation from other church disciplines in the Wesleyan tradition. Even the borrowed material, edited by Seymour, gives insight into the traditons of the Azusa Street Mission.

Larry Martin, editor, has reogranized the book into a style that today's readers will find more enjoyable. He has also made some corrections in spelling and grammar, being careful to change none of the original author's intent. All of the original is included in this reprint.

In the foreword for the book, Bishop Carlton Pearson wrote, "This tremendous, book, the information of which has been lost to the masses for many years, gives you unique insight into the heart and mind of the man through whom it all began . . ."

About the Author
W.J. Seymour was the son of slaves. With very little education, he overcame the poverty and oppression of the South and became pastor of one of the world's most famous churches, The Apostolic Faith Mission at 312 Azusa Street in Los Angeles, CA. Recently Christian History magazine listed Seymour as one of the ten most important Christians of the 20th Century. Life magazine said the Azusa Street revival, led by Seymour, was one of the 100 most significant events of the past millennium.

About the Author

Sergio Alberto González, Ph.D., is a full professor of power electronics at the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina. He is also an associate professor of power electronics and motors control at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ), Argentina (since 2000). Dr. González joined the Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation Laboratory (LEICI), Argentina, in 1992. His research interests have been in the field of power converters, in particular DC-DC converters, resonant converters, and multilevel converters and their application in flexible AC transmission and power quality control.

Santiago Andrés Verne, Ph.D., has been with the Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation Laboratory (LEICI) at the National University of La Plata (UNLP) since 2003 studying multilevel converters and drives. He is also currently a head teaching assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department at UNLP.

María Inés Valla, Ph.D., is a full professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the National University of La Plata (UNLP). She is also a member of the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET). Dr. Valla joined the Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation Laboratory (LEICI) at UNLP in 1980, and since 1998 she has been the head of the power electronics group within LEICI. Her research interests are in the field of power electronics and AC drives. Dr. Valla has been an IEEE fellow since 2010 and a member of the Buenos Aires Academy of Engineering in Argentina since 2007.
